I have a pair of Altec 846B speakers. The horn on one works fine, but on the other the horn does not emit sound (both woofers are fine). I think the driver for the horns is called 806-8a. Do I need to replace this part, or is there some less drastic measure or test I can make? Thanks so much. I'm a newbie to this, so be kind.

Welcome donroy, you can remove the back cover of the
horn and you should see the element that looks something
    like this,

Carefully inspect for damage as a common problem is
that the element strap can pop like this.

This can be repaired with delicate solder surgery and good luck.

Otherwise test it with an ohm meter or touch the wire leads
with a battery and listen for scrape sound.
Let us know what you find........

If you can't get it to work then send it to Bill Hanuschack at great plains audio in Oklahoma to fix.
